Dracula (1931)

Dracula (1931)

The original with Bela Lugosi directed by Tod Browning. To see this film for the first time after seeing so many other versions is to appreciate this first one. Lugosi and his eyes as well as the sets the story and to an extent even the early special effects make it memorable. A classic not to be missed … watch it a night with all the other lights in the house turned off for maximum effect! In case you don’t know it’s about a man who lives off the blood of others preferably obtained by biting the neck of his victims with his overlarge canine teeth and sucking it out. This gives him eternal life though he’s not able to see the light of day else he’ll burn up. So he sleeps in a coffin. Oh yeah he can use his eyes to control people as well. Added to the National Film Registry in 2000. "Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make." is #83 on AFI’s 100 Greatest Movie Quotes list.
